VET in Schools (VETiS) Funding

Start a nationally recognised qualification while you’re still at school

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) gives students in Years 10, 11 and 12 the chance to gain real industry skills and complete a nationally recognised qualification as part of their regular school studies.

Through VETiS, Civil Safety partners with schools to deliver high-quality training that helps students develop job-ready skills and work toward their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

VETiS allows eligible secondary students to:

  • Complete vocational training during school hours

  • Earn QCE credits towards graduation

  • Gain practival, industry-designed skills

  • Explore career pathways while still at school

  • Receive nationall recognised qualifications


Civil Safety provides a Trainer/Assessor who visits the school or delivers sessions onsite or online.

We provide students with:

  • Up-to-date training resources

  • A dedicated Civil Safety VET Coordinator

  • Ongoing support for teachers and students

  • Training that fits within school timetables

VETiS qualifications contribute credit toward the QCE depending on the level of the qualification:

Civil Safety’s VETiS programs are designed to give students a strong foundation in high-demand industries, including construction, mining/resources, agriculture, and the environment.

Eligibility Requirements

To enrol in a VETiS-funded program, students must:

  • Be enrolled in Year 10, 11, or 12 at a Queensland secondary school

  • Meet school suitability requirements (e.g. behaviour, attendance)

  • Have completed Year 10 English at a minimum C standard (recommended)

  • Be approved by the school to participate in VETiS training

Additional entry requirements may apply for specific qualifications.



VETiS Funding Explained

VETiS is funded by the Queensland Government through the VET in Schools (VETiS) program, which allows eligible students to complete one Certificate I or II level qualification at no cost.

VETiS-Funded Delivery

  • Fee-free for eligible students

  • Covers training and assessment for one approved qualification

Fee-for-Service Delivery

For students who wish to complete additional qualifications, Civil Safety also offers a Fee-for-Service option.


Pathways After VETiS

Completing a VETiS qualification gives students a head start in:

  • Apprenticeships and traineeships

  • Certificate III and IV qualifications

  • Employment in entry-level roles

  • Further VET or university pathways through credit and experience

Many students continue into school-based apprenticeships (SATs) or post-school training.
