The Conduct Articulated Haul Truck Operations course equips you with the practical knowledge and skills to safely operate articulated dump trucks across a range of job sites. You’ll learn about:
Legislation & Compliance: Understand WHS laws, site procedures, and your responsibilities as an operator.
Hazard Identification: Identify site hazards including uneven terrain, traffic interactions, and environmental conditions.
Haul Truck Equipment: Learn about articulated haul trucks, their components, capabilities, and safe use.
Pre-Operational Checks & Maintenance: Conduct inspections, identify faults, and perform routine checks before and after operation.
Safe Operating Procedures: Operate haul trucks to load, transport, and dump materials safely and efficiently.
Load Management & Stability: Understand load distribution, centre of gravity, and safe tipping practices.
Traffic Management & Site Coordination: Work safely around other machinery, follow site traffic plans, and maintain communication.
Control Measures & Safety Planning: Apply risk controls and plan tasks to minimise hazards during operation.
Emergency Procedures: Respond appropriately to breakdowns, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
Communication & Reporting: Use site communication systems and report hazards, incidents, and maintenance issues.
By the end of the course, you’ll be confident in operating articulated haul trucks safely, transporting materials efficiently, and maintaining safe work practices across civil and mining environments.
In order to provide you with the best learning outcomes possible, this course is delivered via a mix of online learning and face-to-face training. You will be assigned an experienced Trainer Assessor for support throughout your course.
The online theory modules are self-paced and include assessments (quizzes, written tasks, or short scenario-based exercises) to ensure understanding.
Your trainer will give you practical tasks to complete based on the information you’ve learned in your online theory module.
You will need to pass both steps in order to successfully complete the course.
