The Work Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204E) course provides you with the practical skills and knowledge to safely perform work at heights. Delivered face-to-face by experienced trainers, the course combines theory with hands-on training, giving you the opportunity to practise using height safety equipment and applying safe work procedures in realistic workplace scenarios.
You’ll learn how to identify and assess hazards, implement effective risk controls, select and correctly use height safety equipment, and follow workplace procedures when working at heights.

Work Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204E) F2F - Course Information
This course provides you with the practical knowledge and real-world experience needed to work safely at heights in a variety of elevated environments. You’ll learn about:
Legislation & Compliance: Understand WHS requirements for working at height.
Hazard Identification: Learn about common risks, fall hazards, and relevant WHS requirements.
Risk Assessment and Planning: Identify unsafe conditions and implement effective control measures before starting work at heights.
Equipment Selection & Inspection: Choose, inspect, and maintain harnesses, lanyards, anchors, and other height safety equipment.
Safe Work Procedures: Apply correct procedures for accessing, working, and moving safely at height.
Fall Prevention & Protection: Understand the hierarchy of controls and how to minimise fall risks as well as the use of fall arrest and fall restraint systems.
Emergency Procedures: Follow protocols for rescue and emergency response in elevated work scenarios.
Communication & Reporting: Effectively communicate hazards and report incidents as per workplace procedures.
By the end of the course, you’ll be confident in your ability to identify potential hazards, use height safety equipment correctly, and work safely in elevated environments in compliance with workplace safety requirements.
Course Delivery and Assessment
To provide you with the best possible learning experience, this course is delivered entirely face-to-face with an experienced Trainer Assessor. You’ll receive personalised support and practical, hands-on training throughout your course.
Step 1 - Complete theory module
In person at one of our training facilities. Assessment will include quizzes, written tasks, or short exercises to ensure understanding.
Step 2 - Complete face-to-face training
In person at one of our training facilities. Your trainer will give you practical tasks to complete based on the information you’ve learned in your online theory module.
You will need to pass both steps in order to successfully complete the course.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however students will need:
Adequate language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

Construction Skills Queensland
Eligible workers, employers, and job seekers in Queensland's building and construction industry can save up to 75-100% on courses, including, short courses, units of competency, and Certificate of Diploma qualifications. CSQ provides substantial funding, with a small student co-contribution usually required.
Construction Training Fund WA
Eligible apprentices, trainees, workers and business owners in WA's building and construction industry can save up to 70% on metro courses and 80% on regional courses with CTF funding. As an approved provider, we can handle the paperwork and claim process for you, so you only pay the gap while you upskill, get licences, and complete safety courses.

Yes - you may be eligible for either Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ QLD) or Construction Training Fund (CTF WA) subsidies for this course.
This course is delivered face-to-face over 1 day.
There are no formal entry requirements; however, students will need:
Basic computer skills and internet access (for enrolment and communication)
Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) – mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don’t have one, you can apply at usi.gov.au or we can assist.
Your Statement of Attainment is typically issued within 3-5 business days after you successfully complete all assessments and all required enrolment, USI and payment requirements are satisfied.
