Standard 11 Underground Refresher - Course Information
Course Delivery and Assessment
Through a series of online quiz questions and assessments, the Standard 11 Underground refresher course will test your knowledge of key underground mine site safety protocols and keep you up-to-date with the latest industry standards and regulations.
The course duration has been shortened to align with your existing knowledge and skills.
You'll be assigned a dedicated trainer/assessor for support if required for the duration of your course, and you have 30 days from enrolment to complete it.
Course Outcome
This course ensures you remain compliant to work underground on coal and metaliferous mine sites as mandated by the Queensland Mining Safety Inspectorate.
Upon successful completion of the Standard 11 Underground refresher course, you will be awarded a nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment for:
RIIERR203E - Escape from hazardous situations unaided.
This Statement of Attainment is valid for 5 years or as stipulated by your employer.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible to enrol in this course, you must:
Hold a current (less than 5 years old) Statement of Attainment (issued by an RTO) for the RIIERR203E unit of competency.
Provide valid photo ID (driver's license, passport).
Be at least 15 years of age.
Internet connection and access to a desktop, laptop or tablet.
Please note we do not accept wallet cards. If you do not have access to your current Statement of Attainment, you can obtain a VET Transcript from your USI student portal. For instructions, click here and select 'How to view and download my USI Transcript'.
If you do not meet these entry requirements for the refresher course, you will need to complete the full course instead. An additional assessment fee will apply for the practical training and assessment component, which can be delivered at any of our training facilities throughout Queensland.

The Standard 11 Underground refresher course fee is $250, with Afterpay available.
Unfortunately, there is no funding available for the Standard 11 Underground Refresher course.
The online course is self-paced and typically takes between 2-4 hours to complete. However, you have 30 days from your enrolment date to complete the refresher course online at your own pace.
Some employers may require you to refresh your Standard 11 underground competencies every 2 to 5 years. If your renewal is approaching soon, we suggest you check with your employer whether you need to complete this refresher course.
To qualify for the Standard 11 Underground refresher course, you’ll need:
A previous RTO-issued Statement of Attainment for the RIIERR203E unit of competency that is less than 5 years old
Valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport)
To be at least 15 years of age
To demonstrate a sufficient level of language, literacy, and numeracy to complete the required assessments

On successful completion of the Standard 11 underground refresher course and receipt of payment, your SOA will be issued within 24-48 hours.
