Through a combination of theory and practical learning, you’ll gain expertise in:
Plan, select, and prepare scaffolding equipment for different work environments
Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding safely and efficiently
Inspect scaffolding for faults and ensure compliance with safety standards
Apply safe work practices and follow workplace procedures at all times
Use appropriate tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Understand scaffolding terminology, regulations, and industry standards
Work collaboratively in a team while managing hazards and risks
Conduct routine maintenance and housekeeping of scaffolding equipment
Training is designed around real-world scaffolding projects, giving you the confidence, practical experience, and teamwork skills needed to work safely and effectively on construction sites.
The Certificate III in Scaffolding is a flexible, blended delivery course designed to fit around your work and lifestyle, giving you up to 12 months to complete your studies at your own pace. The theory component of the course is delivered online, and you will also need to attend face-to-face training sessions to learn hands-on, practical skills. Our trainers will demonstrate key techniques and provide personalised feedback and guidance, helping you build both confidence and competence.
Assessment is competency-based, meaning you’ll be evaluated on your ability to perform tasks and apply knowledge in real-world scenarios. This includes:
Practical demonstrations of scaffolding assembly, modification, and dismantling, along with workplace safety procedures.
Observed tasks in simulated or real construction site environments.
Written or online assessments to confirm understanding of scaffolding principles, regulations, and safe work practices.
A blended approach ensures you don’t just learn the theory - you’ll be able to apply your skills safely and effectively in a variety of rural and agricultural roles.
The Certificate III in Scaffolding is a nationally-recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). On successful completion, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for the following 14 accredited units of competency:
CPCCCM2006 - Apply basic levelling procedures
CPCCLSF2001 - Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding basic level
CPCCLSF3001 - Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding intermediate level
CPCCOM1012 - Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
CPCCOM1013 - Plan and organise work
CPCCOM1014 - Conduct workplace communication
CPCCOM1015 - Carry out measurements and calculations
CPCCOM2001 - Read and interpret plans and specifications
CPCCSC2001 - Handle and position scaffolding tools, equipment and components
CPCCWHS2001 - Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
CPCCCM2012 - Work safely at heights
CPCCSC2002 - Erect and dismantle basic scaffolding
CPCCSC3001 - Erect and dismantle intermediate scaffolding
CPCCCM2007 - Use explosive power tools

Graduates of this course can pursue a variety of scaffolding and construction roles, including:
Scaffolder / Scaffolding Tradesperson - Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding on construction and industrial sites.
Industrial Scaffolder - Work on large-scale industrial or maintenance projects, including refineries, power plants, and factories.
Construction Site Worker - Support broader construction projects while applying safe work practices at height.
Advanced / Supervisory Roles - With further study, progress to site supervision, team leadership, or scaffolding project coordination.
There are no formal entry requirements to enrol in this course; however, students should have:
basic computer skills and access to the internet
sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;
a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

Career Start provides eligible Queenslanders with government-subsidised training to help them begin a Certificate III qualification, and potentially an apprenticeship or traineeship, selected from priority or emerging industries.
The Certificate III in Scaffolding course takes approximately 3-6 months to complete. You will be required to complete online learning modules and attend face-to-face training for the practical assessments.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, students will need:
Basic computer skills and internet access (for enrolment and communication)
Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments
A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you don’t have one, you can apply at usi.gov.au or we can assist.
