Delivery & Assessment

 

The Certificate IV in WHS is a flexible, online course designed to fit around your work and lifestyle, giving you up to 12 months to complete your studies at your own pace. Learning is practical and career-focused, with assessments based on real workplace scenarios. This competency-based approach ensures you don’t just learn the theory - you’ll be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to confidently apply WHS practices in the real world.

Assessment is competency-based, meaning you’ll be evaluated on your ability to perform tasks and apply knowledge in real-world scenarios. This includes:

  • Written or online assessments to confirm understanding of key concepts.

What You’ll Study

 

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) is a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). On successful completion, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for the following 10 accredited units of competency:

 

Core Units - Five (5):

 
  • BSBWHS412 - Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws
  • BSBWHS413 - Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
  • BSBWHS414 - Contribute to WHS risk management
  • BSBWHS415 - Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS416 - Contribute to workplace incident response
 

Elective Units (5) *:

 
  • BSBINS401 - Analyse and present research information
  • BSBWHS418 - Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors
  • BSBWRT411 - Write complex documents
  • BSBCMM411 - Make presentations
  • BSBLDR411 - Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
 

*Elective units may vary by location or negotiation

Upon completion, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment within 30 days.

 

Entry Requirements

 

There are no formal entry requirements to enrol in this course; however students should have:

 

  • basic computer skills and access to the internet
  • sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;
  • a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

Construction Training Fund (CTF - WA)
 

Eligible apprentices, trainees, workers and business owners in WA’s building and construction industry can save up to 70% per course (metro) and 80% per course (regional) with CTF funding. As an approved bulk billing provider, we handle the paperwork and claim process for you - so you only pay the gap while you upskill, get licences, and complete safety courses.
