The Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Refresher course is designed for experienced HSRs to maintain their edge and confidence in representing their workgroup. This one-day program moves beyond the basics, providing a high-level update on your rights and responsibilities under the latest safety legislation. Through interactive discussion and case studies, you will bridge the gap between initial training and current workplace challenges, ensuring you remain a powerful advocate for a safer work environment.
This WorkSafe Approved 1-Day Refresher is designed for experienced HSRs to sharpen their skills and bridge the gap between their initial training and the current legal landscape. Rather than re-learning the basics, you will dive into the high-level application of your powers to drive safer outcomes in today’s modern workplace.
This course is ideal for:
Elected HSRs and Deputy HSRs: You must be currently holding an elected position within your workgroup.
Experienced HSRs: Those who have already completed the mandatory WorkSafe Approved 5-Day Initial Course.
Re-elected HSRs: If you have just been re-elected for a new 3-year term, you are a primary target for this course (and are required to complete it within 28 days of re-election).
The HSR role is widely recognized as the best "entry-level" experience for a career in Work Health and Safety.
WHS Officer/Advisor: You can leverage your HSR experience to transition into a full-time safety role. Many HSRs follow this by completing a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419).
Safety Coordinator: Large sites (especially in construction or mining) often look for coordinators who have "ground-floor" experience communicating with both workers and management.
