Course format

2 x 1-day sessions:
  • Day 1: Formal training covering both theoretical and practical components, which will be integrated into the student’s training plan/logbook.
  • Day 2: Completion of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) assessment after fulfilling the required logbook hours on the job. Throughout the training, we will explain the WHS requirements for logbook completion, as well as employer responsibilities. For example, students must operate forklifts under supervision at all times. All on-the-job experience should be documented in the logbook and signed off by a licensed supervisor.
  • After completing the necessary 40 hours of informal experience and once your supervisor is confident in your abilities, you can contact us to schedule your final written and practical assessments.

High-Risk Work Licenses

  • High-risk work licenses are valid for 5 years. Upon expiration, it is necessary to renew the license, a process that can be completed through the WHS QLD or WA websites.

  • If your high-risk work license has expired, you won't be recognised as a licensed operator until it is renewed.
  • You are granted a 12-month window to renew the license; however, if this period elapses, you'll need to undergo both the written and practical exams again.
  • It's important to note that a Verification of Competency (VOC) cannot be conducted on an expired license.
  • High risk licensing fees are an additional cost of $100.

Successful completion

A Statement of Attainment is issued to participants who successfully complete all the required assessment tasks, have paid in full and have supplied all required supporting documentation. You have 60 days from successfully completing your practical assessment to apply to WorkSafe QLD for your high risk work licence.
