The Diploma of Business (BSB50120) provides a practical framework for developing the skills required to operate effectively in a range of business environments. This qualification is suited to individuals stepping into supervisory or mid-level management roles, where they are responsible for coordinating workflows, supporting teams, and contributing to business performance.

With a strong focus on real-world application, the course aligns with current industry expectations and equips participants with the tools to manage priorities, improve processes, and support organisational objectives across key business functions.

You’ll learn to:

Course Delivery and Assessment

This course is delivered 100% online, combining interactive theory modules with short assessments to test your knowledge as you progress. You’ll also have a dedicated trainer/assessor available throughout the course to provide support whenever you need it.

The Diploma of Business is self-paced, so you can enrol at any time and study around work, family, or other commitments. While the average completion time is around 14 months, your actual duration depends on the time you dedicate and your existing skills.

Students receiving study benefits from Centrelink (education on supplement) will be obligated to complete the course in 28 weeks (full-time) or 56 weeks (part-time). Students who complete the course as part of a traineeship will have 12 months full-time or 2 years part-time.

The Diploma of Business is a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). On successful completion, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for the following 12 accredited units of competency.

Graduates of this course can pursue entry-level roles or further study leading to careers such as:

  • Business Manager - responsible for managing the overall operations of a business, including overseeing finances, managing employees, and ensuring the business is meeting its goals.

  • Team Leader - responsible for managing a team of employees, including assigning tasks, training team members, and ensuring team members are meeting their goals.

  • Sales Manager - responsible for managing a team of sales representatives, including setting sales targets, training team members, and developing sales strategies.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to enrol in this course; however, students should have:

  • basic computer skills and access to the internet

  • sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;

  • A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.
